Samsung Officially Announces The Availability Of Its Digital Assistant

“Pixby” In More Than 200 Countries

Ahmed El Khader Last updated August 22, 2017Samsung officially announced the launch of Digital Assistant ” Bixby ” Bixby for its smart phones Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus in more than 200 countries around the world, after a delay of months.

“Samsung Electronics today announced that Pixby’s voice capabilities have expanded to more than 200 countries and territories worldwide, allowing millions of consumers to experience a smarter way to interact with their phones,” the company said in a statement on its website.

“In addition to South Korea and the United States, consumers in countries around the world, including the UK, Australia, Canada and South Africa, will be able to take advantage of the smart interface to help them get things done faster and easier.”

According to Samsung, the world’s largest maker of smartphones, Bixby, now available only in English and Korean, provides users with improved productivity and customization through Quick Commands, a feature that allows them to create a custom voice command to use instead of Sequence one or more commands.

The company has set an example for the user to say “Good Night,” to let the digital assistant Pixby understand that he has to turn on the “Do Not Disturb” mode, adjusts the alarm clock, and turns the filter filter blue.

Samsung said Bixby also understands the way the user speaks, asks questions and makes requests. For example, if a user picks up an image and then tells Picasa to “send the pictures I just took to my mother,” the PDA will understand exactly which image the user intended and then send to his mother. “This understanding of natural language makes interacting with your smartphone easier and more intuitive. With the repetition of deep learning technology, Pixi will improve over time to learn about your personal preferences and ways of speaking. ”

Samsung announced its digital assistant Bixby last March to join the frantic race between major technology companies such as Google Inc., Google’s acronym, Apple, Siri, Amazon, Alexa, and Microsoft, Cortana. .

The company argues that Bixby, which was supposed to be available with the Galaxy S8 since last April but was not ready then, “fundamentally different” from other digital assistance that responds to voice commands, or which the company likes to call “agents “Agents.

Samsung explained that Bixby is different from others because it will be able to support “almost” all the tasks that the application can do through normal means, such as touch screen, which means that it does not basically perform tasks that have voice commands.

The applications that support Pixby will be more context sensitive so that the PDA will understand exactly what the user is trying to do, understand and execute voice commands even if the user does not provide the full voice command or his foot in random order of words, all thanks to what Samsung calls ” Cognitive. ”

The users of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus can run Bixby by simply clicking on the button provided by Samsung to remove the obstacle to run the screen to call the PDA, or facilitate the task of performing several tasks with the click of a button.

“The expansion of Pixi’s audio capabilities is an initial step in the continued launch of Pixby’s functionality,” said Ingong Re, Samsung’s future vice president and head of research and development at Samsung Electronics. In the future, Pixby will have the ability to learn to deliver smarter, more user-friendly interactions and seamless communication across more devices. ” Samsung plans to further expand its Pixby audio capabilities to more countries, languages, devices, features and third-party applications.

The company aims to make Bixby available behind the smart phone, as it will support other products, including smart TVs and air conditioners, in the context of the increasing role played by digital assistance in the Internet of things.

In October, Samsung announced the acquisition of Viv Labs , a US-based artificial intelligence company run by Apple’s smart developer Siri Siri.

At the time, the company said it plans to integrate the company’s artificial intelligence platform, Viv, into its home appliances and wearables, as well as other devices that may include its smartphones.

Major technology companies are locked in an increasingly heated race to make artificial intelligence platforms good enough to allow consumers to interact with their devices more closely to nature, especially through sound.

Google is the most powerful technology company in the field of artificial intelligence, and other companies, such as Amazon through its digital assistant Alexa, Apple through Siri, Microsoft through Cortana, to rival.
