In a recent report by the Center for Digital Education (CDE), the top drivers for adopting or expanding technologies are quite diverse, but 48 percent see the potential in cost savings. After three decades of spending cuts, states have left public colleges with nearly 25 percent declines in funding per student. And cost is just one challenge. Building an infrastructure to support future classroom learning, enabling research, IoT, VR, communication, and keeping IT security top of mind while doing more with less is not easy or straightforward.

Despite that, most campuses are already Connected or in the process of being connected. Although the term itself holds multiple meanings for respondents, from ubiquitous Wi-Fi to the use of the IoT and smart technologies, there is a clear trend among respondents (86 percent) that said the concept of the connected campus is the accepted or envisioned future.
