Oscilloscope - Its uses



The Oscilloscope is a instrument which is a graphical voltmeter; in which you can vary parameters to study waveforms such as amplitude and frequency of waves.
  • It has got two probes one is test Probe and other probe is for ground.
  • Ground probe of Scope is actually connected to the metal of oscilloscope,which is connected to earth'safety ground of the th power system.
    So, NEVER Measure directly a.c voltages with oscilloscope which is having a GROUND PROBE
  • There is a way to measure ac voltage on scope , use two channels in scope at the same time and removing ground probe from both the channels.Then, ADD signals of the both channels and for the 2nd channel , make the Signal INVERT. This way, you can measure any voltage without bothering about ground. Below is the video which gives more info on it:
