Spotify Launches A Redesigned App For Free Users

Spotify has revealed this week at New York City a new Redesigned App. The newly redesigned app aims to enhance the experience of its 90 million customers. This development is significant since the company started the tier service since 2014.

What’s new with Spotify’s redesigned app?

Spotify’s redesigned app now allows its free listeners to access at least 15 select on-demand playlists. This means that you can play any songs that you want inside those playlists. In case you don’t know, the 15 on-demand playlists are generated by Spotify based on the curated list of songs picked by subscribers.

The list, according to Spotify, would be updated daily. The 15 playlists would include at least 750 songs. Apart from this, other playlists to be included are the Discover Weekly, Release Radar, and Daily Mix playlists, among others.

According to the company, there is over 2 billion playlist created by Spotify users. The company said that the redesigned app aims to guide users using a process they called “playlisting.” It works by suggesting songs that have a similar genre and could be found below the search bar.

Also, free customers can now select their favourite artists. By doing so, they could start using their personalized playlists immediately. Added to this feature is a data saver that would help users capped data usage plans.

Spotify’s chief R&D officer Gustav Söderström said: “Spotify is both the radio station and the record store.”

“Over the last several years, we’ve made Spotify’s premium mobile experience top notch,” Söderström said. “The mobile free tier has stayed the same since 2014,” he added.
