Twitter users across the globe will now be able to post easily tweetstorms. This comes after news that Twitter rolls out a new feature called “threads” this month. The company’s “threads” feature is still on experimental stage, a report from Techcrunch said.
Twitter has confirmed earlier about its new “threads” feature. In case you don’t know, Twitter’s tweetstorm is a format that is only known to a small number of people. One of the celebrities using the tweetstorm format is Marc Andreessen.
What is Twitter’s tweetstorm?
Since Twitter is a microblogging social media platform, tech-savvy users define tweetstorm simply as a series of related tweets that are posted by a certain Twitter user in quick succession. For some users, tweetstorm is a welcome development because it allows them to share more information. Others opt not to use Twitter because of its characters limitation.
Presently, the microblogging site is implementing a character count restriction policy. Originally, users are only allowed to post 140 characters, but the said restriction was doubled, making the new character limit of 280.
“We understand since many of you have been Tweeting for years, there may be an emotional attachment to 140 characters – we felt it, too. But we tried this, saw the power of what it will do, and fell in love with this new, still brief, constraint. We are excited to share this today, and we will keep you posted on what we see and what comes next,” the company said in a blog post.
Hence, Twitter saw the need to have a new feature because of this restriction. The “threads” feature is surely creative and innovative add-ons to the microblogging site platform. After all, brevity is core to Twitter’s platform. It delivers the information straight to the point where it matters most.
With this, Twitter users can use the tweetstorm feature when they want to share personal experiences, share breaking news, rant about love life and other personal issues, among others, using the platform.
