Following a global downturn during the COVID-19 pandemic, the oil and gas industry is now showing signs of a gradual revival.

Against the backdrop of a growing movement towards cleaner energy alternatives, O-A Danquah, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), underscored the significance of conducting responsible and sustainable exploration of Ghana’s oil and gas reserves to keep pace with the escalating demand.

Danquah emphasized that this commitment positions the Volta Basin Project (VBP) as the foremost priority for GNPC’s management.

To ensure the realization of their objective to drill a well in the most environmentally efficient and sustainable manner, the dedicated and versatile workforce at GNPC is channeling their expertise and efforts towards this cause.

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) is actively engaged in the exploration of hydrocarbon potential within Ghana’s onshore sedimentary basin, specifically the Volta Basin Project (VBP).

Under a Reconnaissance license, GNPC is employing a combination of geophysical, geological, and geochemical techniques to assess the presence of hydrocarbons in the area With the aim of drilling a well in the near future, the corporation has high expectations for the project.

To stay informed and updated on the ongoing work being carried out in the VBP, Mr. O-A Danquah, the CEO of GNPC, is embarking on a tour of the project site.

This visit will provide him with a valuable opportunity to personally observe and gather information on the progress made thus far.
