Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Arts, Communications, or a related field required; supplemented by one year of experience in graphic arts, design, digital communication, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job

Responsibilities

  1. The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by an analysis of the application
  2. The purpose of this classification is to create and produce art, graphics, and publications for an assigned department
  3. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification
  4. Other duties may be required and assigned
  5. Creates a variety of content for digital and print usage
  6. Designs print and digital items, including web pages, social media posts, brochures, flyers, booklets, newsletters, posters, reports, signage, and displays utilizing computerized desktop publishing and design software: designs graphics; determines to lay out, format, and method of design; prepares camera ready artwork and materials; updates existing materials and publications
  1. Writes copy as needed for these materials
  2. Creates charts and graphs for reports and publications, receives, reviews, and interprets raw data; generates charts, graphs, and infographics; submits to the vendor for mounting and presentation
  3. Creates photography and video content for use in marketing and promotional materials; attends events and activities; chooses and edits photos and videos
  4. Maintains inventories of supplies and equipment: ensures availability of adequate supplies to complete work activities; communicates with vendors and obtains quotes; researches and makes recommendations regarding equipment and technology purchases; prepares purchase requisitions for needed materials, equipment, and supplies
  1. Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes, and per established procedures: receives and reviews various documentation, including charts, diagrams, and reports; reviews, completes, processes, forwards, or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including annual report and flow charts; compiles data for further processing or for use in the preparation of department reports, and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records
  2. Operates or uses various equipment and supplies in order to complete work assignments: operates and maintains video cameras, digital cameras, printers/plotters, and other equipment; operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, desktop publishing, presentation, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions
  3. Communicates with County officials, supervisors, other employees, third-party service contractors, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review the status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems
  4. May perform technical support duties to the department, providing troubleshooting and end-user support, and updating hardware and software as needed
  5. Performs other related duties as required
