All the major smartphone Chipset manufacturers like Qualcomm, Samsung, MediaTek, and others have flagship mobile processors with 5G connectivity. Here are the top 5 flagship chipsets with 5G in 2022.
1. Apple A15 Bionic
The iPhone 13 series smartphones are powered by a new 5G chipset called Apple A15 Bionic. Aside from iPhones, the iPad mini is also using the same chipset. While Apple hasn’t revealed any specs for this chipset, we do know that it’s built on 5nm fabrication and it’s the most energy-efficient processor in the world. The Apple A15 Bionic has 6 CPU cores, 5 GPU cores, and a 16-core neural engine for AI. Unfortunately, Apple hasn’t revealed actual improvement of the A15 over the A14. However, Actual uses show that iPhone 13 A15 Bionic is much more energy efficient and powerful compared to iPhone 12 with A14 Bionic.

2. Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1
Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is the latest flagship chipset of Qualcomm. While it uses the same 4 nm fabrication as Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, it solves some of the key problems like power usage and heat. The new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is almost 10% faster in CPU and GPU performance and is 30% more energy efficient. The main Cortex-X2 core can now go up to 3.2GHz compared to 3.0Ghz on Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 uses the same Adreno 730 GPU but it’s 10% more powerful now while being much more energy efficient.

3. MediaTek Dimensity 9000+
Dimensity 9000+ and Dimensity 9000 are two new flagship processors from MediaTek Which use the new Cortex-X2 as the main core. Both chipsets are built on a 4nm fabrication process along with some massive performance improvements over the last generation of chipsets. Dimensity 9000 plus’s main core runs at 3.2GHz, 3 Cortex-A710 runs at 2.85GHz, and the remaining 4 energy efficient Cortex-A510 runs at 1.8GHz. According to MediaTek, Dimensity 9000+ has a 5% CPU performance improvement over its predecessor. Speaking of a GPU, it has a new Mali-G710 MC10 graphics processor which provides a 10% performance boost. 5G connectivity also got boosted with up to 7 GBPS download speed using 3CC Carrier Aggregation.
4. Samsung Exynos 2200
Exynos 2100 was the first chipset from Samsung with 5G connectivity. Now they have a new flagship 4nm chipset, Samsung Exynos 2200. This octa-core processor is rocking Cortex-X2 at 2.8GHz along with 4 Cortex A710 and 3 Cortex A510. Samsung Exynos 2200 has 5% CPU performance, 17% GPU performance, and massive 117% NPU performance(AI) improvements over the Exynos 2100. It also has a new AMD RDNA 2-based Xclipse 920 GPU, which significantly improves the gaming experience.
5. Hisilicon Kirin 9000
Kirin 9000 is currently the flagship processor of Hisilicon. However, it’s slightly behind in the list of flagship processors. The reason behind that is its 5nm chipset, which uses Cortex-A77 as the main core. Even though it’s slightly behind, Kirin 9000 was the first chipset ever to have 15 billion transistors on a mobile chipset. It also features a 4-core Mali-G78 GPU which improves graphics performance by over 60% compared to the last generation
