Do You Know Samsung Has Dropped a New DropShip Good Lock?

The all-new Dropship Good Lock has been rolled out by Samsung, finally. At the first glance, it appears really cool and gives Samsung a massive boost in terms of bridging the gap with similar apps and internet-based file transferring services.

Today, there’s no dearth of options when it comes to apps and other internet-based services that help you transfer files from device to another. Yet, Samsung’s widely celebrated Galaxy phones syncs seamlessly with the Good Lock app. The in-house Good Lock is at times preferred over other alternatives by Samsung users, for quite obvious reasons. However, it faces a stern challenge from Samsung’s own Quick Share or Google’s Nearby Share for Android and ChromeOS.

Therefore, in order to upgrade the arsenal Samsung comes up with new updates for the Good Lock app. With each such new Good Lock module, we experience significant changes. Going by the trend seen over the last few years, Samsung generally churns out new Good Lock modules, right after the annual One UI software refresh.

But how good is the new Samsung Good Lock? Let’s delve deeper to figure out all the important aspects in detail.

In a nutshell, the DropShip Good Lock is really nice (though there’s still ample room for upgradation) and worth trying. [Image Credit: Good Lock]

DropShip Good Lock: Not so Fast, But Refreshingly Cool

The DropShip Good Lock is certainly not the fastest option available at the moment, so far as file transferring options are concerned. It lags behind many of its market competitors in terms of pace. These are namely Samsung’s own Quick Share or Google’s Nearby Share for Android and ChromeOS.

Then why does the Good Lock app manage to find suitors, all across the world? The answer is quite plain and simple. For, it brings some decent tools to the table, which enable it to tick a host of right boxes. Apart from sticking to basics, it pulls some added perks off.

You would be amazed to know that it can actually transfer files to almost any device, the long list includes Android phones/tablets or iPhones/iPads, and even your laptop.

How Does it Work?

File transfers are easy to initiate, requiring the user to select the files they want to send, at which point the app will create a shareable link and a QR code for users to access in order to initiate a download. Furthermore, users have the option to set a timer for the expiration of the file share for security purposes. In addition to sending files from your Samsung device, DropShip also lets you access files from various cloud storage services including Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Google Photos, and so on.

Contrary to the initial belief that DropShip would only work with Samsung devices on One UI 5.0 (Android 13), it has been reported to work smoothly with One UI 4.1 devices also. However, compatibility could be limited to higher-end Galaxy smartphones and tablets, for instance the all-new Galaxy S23 Ultra, potentially leaving out Samsung’s extensive list of budget and mid-range offerings.

DropShip offers a daily file transfer limit of 5GB per user, who is required to login through their Samsung account. Although, the receiver doesn’t require to possess a Samsung account, thus allowing users to send files to practically anyone out there, with some of the caveats that we’ve mentioned above. Still, it’s not too shabby for a free file transfer service (unless you count the cost of buying a Samsung phone).

In a nutshell, the DropShip Good Lock is really nice (though there’s still ample room for upgradation) and worth trying. The new Good Lock module first became available in South Korea and with the passage of time turned up for grabs in other parts of the globe.
