The Last of Us Coming to HBO

HBO continues to add great TV to its list of amazing shows. They just gave a full-service order for The Last of Us. The show will finally be made.

The Last of Us is being created by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl), Neil Druckmann, and Carolyn Strauss (Game of Thrones). This has been in the works for some time. It is nice to see that the powerhouse that is HBO is putting its weight behind the adaptation. They have a great list of high quality shows that fans still love to watch. Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, had this to say about the show.

“Craig and Neil are visionaries in a league of their own. With them at the helm alongside the incomparable Carolyn Strauss, this series is sure to resonate with both die-hard fans of The Last of Us games and newcomers to this genre-defining saga. We’re delighted to partner with Naughty Dog, Word Games, Sony and PlayStation to adapt this epic, powerfully immersive story.”

Deadline did not report any dates. That does not mean we will not see more news about those shows release date or cast in the next few months. Most of the time these big named shows get pushed through the pipeline at a faster pace than most.

With the sequel to the first game released this year and the fact that the game is heavily nominated at this year’s Video Game Awards, it is a great time for fans of the series. In other HBO news, the upcoming movie Wonder Woman 1984 will be released in theaters and on HBO Max. Given the addition of The Last of Us, HBO’s streaming services will easily be able to compete with Disney+ and Netflix.
