The large British Energy company BP and the large Indian IT company Infosys have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop an integrated Energy as a Service (EaaS) offering with which customers’ energy can be managed out of the box at the end of assets and services, the companies said Thursday.

Together, the companies intend to use BP’s energy and mobility expertise and Infosys digital capabilities to explore ways to manage energy assets, deliver low-carbon energy, low-carbon heating / cooling and Low-carbon mobility in AI-powered sites – digital platform, ”the companies said.

The integrated EaaS solution aims to enable Infosys sites to access reliable low-carbon energy and mobility options, to use energy more efficiently and to optimize supply and demand for multiple users and assets without having to invest in additional energy infrastructure.

This follows a pilot on the Infosys Pune campus. The companies now intend to expand the offering to other Infosys locations and explore ways to manage energy and reduce emissions in industrial and commercial parks, as well as cities.

With today’s technological advancements, we can create solutions that provide positive momentum, visibility, control and better decision making, ”said Pravin Rao, Chief Operating Officer, Infosys.

Infosys said it had achieved carbon neutrality in 2020, 30 years ahead of the schedule set in the Paris Agreement. While BP has the ambition to become a net zero company by 2050 or earlier and help the world reach net zero. “Together, the two companies see the potential to apply digital services to integrated energy solutions and help decarbonize businesses and cities,” the company said.
