India launches its first end-to-end encrypted Social Media App – Elyments

In a major push towards Digital “Aatmanirbhar” Bharat, Sri Sri Ravishankar, in collaboration with Sumeru Software Solutions, have announced a new indigenous all-in-one social media app — Elyments.

Touted as India’s first-ever privacy-focused social media app, Elyments aims to be a comprehensive social media networking solution.

Data privacy and data-ownership are some topics that have garnered increased interest in the country lately and are now more relevant than ever, thanks to the recent ban on Chinese apps in India.

With over 500 million active social media users in the country, and none of those social media companies headquartered in India, privacy is for sure one of the primary concerns here. Elyments’ developers ensure that all the user’s data will be stored in India and will never be shared with a third party without the user’s explicit consent.

Elyments features audio/video calling and chats

Owing to its ‘Super social-media app’ tag, Elyments combines the features of all the popular social media apps. It has an inbuilt camera interface, through which you can take photos, add filters (even AR filters), and then share it to your news feed. The app also features private/group chats, with an added ability of free audio/video calls. Just like Twitter, Elyments promises to be an unbiased platform for people having different opinions, sharing their own views.

The app already has over 100,000 downloads and plans to incorporate the following features in the upcoming months:

  • Video conferencing
  • Secure payments via Elyments Pay
  • Public profiles who users can Follow/Subscribe
  • Regional voice commands
  • E-commerce platform to promote Indian Brands
Sh. M Venkaiah Naidu introduces the Elyments app

Elyments was formally launched today in a press conference conducted by the Vice President of India, Sh. M Venkaiah Naidu. The launch was graced by dignitaries including Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, Sri Sri Ravishankar, Jyotiraditya Scindia & Ayodhya Rami Reddy, and some other government officials.

The app is available in 8 Indian languages and is already live on the Google Play Store as well as the Apple App Store. This move is not only being seen as a massive boost to Indian startups and technologies under the country’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, but also a big push to the youth of the nation to come up with such indigenous ideas.
