Google Meet is Here with Some New and Exciting Features

Google Meet is working on rolling out several new features that are similar to that of its competitors. This includes: users can add images or a blur effect to backgrounds on video calls. Zoom and Microsoft also have similar features, choosing a Background, an image and other hosts of options as well. Google Meet wants to have a competitive edge over these rival video conferencing applications.

Google confirmed that, along with providing with background blur and background replacement images, real-time captioning, low-light mode and hand-raising, there will be a tile view up to 49 meeting participants will be brought you.

How background blur is expected to work on Google Meet

The company has not provided details about when these features would be made available but it is reported that Meet was already previewing some of the upcoming features for its education and enterprise customers.

Google has also integrated Meet into Gmail last month, adding a link and has made meetings of up to 100 people with no particular time limit available to anybody with a Google account.

It is now working on competing with video conferencing app Zoom, which has been the leading video conferencing app for people given the current situation due to the pandemic.

Google’s approach to video calls has changed significantly over the past few months. In April this year, Google has given a new branding to its Hangouts Meet platform and changed it to Google Meet and has also made the service free for anyone with a Google account one month later. Meet was made only been available for G Suite users. Now, it has added a variety of new features to have a better video calling experience.

Google Meet is one of the video-based applications that has now enabled a large number of people to participate in the same online video conference by forming a group. According to the company, it, at present, has more than 140 million students and teachers using its G Suite for Education product all across the globe, something that helps a lot of students.

Google now has to compete with video conferencing platforms like Zoom and Skype, both of which were offering certain features that Google Meet was lacking. Google Meet now has obviously started working on some of these features and has now unveiled many such similar features too.

It is reported that teachers can now also expect a new feature called the hand-raising feature, which offers a more natural and better experience that helps the teachers manage their students in an online video-conference class.
