Henry Cavill, famous for portraying the role of Superman in DC movies including Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has given us a glimpse of what he feels about Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
During a chat with Patrick Stewart on Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Cavill said, “Oh the Snyder Cut, the famous-slash-infamous-slash-all-sorts-of-things Snyder Cut. I can’t really tell you anything aside from the fact that all I know is that HBO Max will be releasing it, I believe, and it’ll be Zack’s final vision for the movie, and I don’t know anything more than that.”
He also added, “I’m just really happy that Zack got to realize his vision. I think it’s important for a filmmaker and a storyteller to have their intended vision released and shown to the world, and I’m looking forward to seeing it myself. It’s been quite the ordeal. With Justice League when it came, there was a mix of visions and the movie wasn’t well-received. And then over the subsequent years, there was a big push to see the fabled Snyder Cut. And now that time has come, and I think it’s going to be very enjoyable to watch Zack finally release his version.”
He’s right about the mixing of visions, since Snyder had to leave production abruptly after a family tragedy. As a result, the final theatrical cut of Justice League had only about 10% of what he had originally shot. Zack Snyder’s Justice League comes quite a few years after fans tirelessly campaigned to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut.
Notably, Darkseid actor Ray Porter, who did the motion capture and voice work for the DC villain reacted to the teaser and said, “It’s really good. It’s really cool. I mean Gal Gadot, she looks terrified. It’s so cool… It’s amazing to me that in 34 seconds Zack Snyder can pack more suspense and foreboding than a lot of people can in an entire film. Just looking at it externally and not like, ‘Oh look, that’s me.’ Looking at it, it’s really amazing. It’s only 34 seconds, but it’s huge. So, very exciting.”
And he’s kinda correct in his assessment. The teaser for Zack Snyder’s Justice League was undeniably quite short, but it provided a vision for what is about to come. As Lex Luthor’s voice looms in the background, talking about what’s to come, Wonder Woman looks terrified as she learns the truth. The truth about an upcoming alien invasion and about the arrival of Darkseid himself. Luthor’s narration, along with Diana’s expression builds a tension that has pushed fans into the depths of excitement.
Porter, along with Cavill, is also quite excited for the release of the film. “It’s been a long time coming. it’s been a very much an up and down kind of journey,” he said. “I got really excited. I got really proud. There’s just the thrill of like, ‘Whoa look, that’s me.’ I’ve been in the business for a long enough time that I probably should be less enthusiastic about stuff like that, but I’m always a dork that way. It was very exciting and so well done. I may have watched it once or 50 times”
It is only a matter of time that fans finally get their hands, or eyes, on Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The Snyder Cut is expected to hit HBO Max in 2021.
