Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed Again, But First Previews Are Coming Next Week

CD Projekt Red has now announced that Cyberpunk 2077 has once again been delayed. The game, which was scheduled to release on September 17, will now release on November 19, 2020.

This marks the second delay that Cyberpunk 2077 has faced, which was originally going to release on April 16th. While the team says that the game virtually complete, they just need the extra time to “balance game mechanics and fix a lot of bugs”.

This also points to a next-gen release directly, coinciding with the release window of both the PS5 and Xbox Series X. CDPR had previously confirmed that the game would get a free upgrade for Series X owners, but hasn’t really talked about the PS5 version of the game. All evidence points to Cyberpunk 2077 coming out on all platforms, current and next-gen, on the same day. Perhaps that’s why the game has been delayed so that the next-gen versions can be worked on and release on the same day.

However, the announcement did come with a surprise. It turns out that journalists right now are getting access to a beta build of the game in order to provide preview coverage alongside June 25th’s Night City Wire event.

In the meantime, you might want to whet your appetite with some AI upscaled gameplay footage at 8K. Going by CDPR’s previous track record, it’s clear that they really want to release a polished game at release. Considering just how many games come out these days broken at launch, it’s nice to see the Polish developer taking the extra time to make sure they deliver on their cyberpunk vision properly.

Cyberpunk 2077 will now release on November 19 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Release dates for PS5, Xbox Series X are not confirmed yet.
