OnePlus has been releasing special editions of its flagships for quite a while now. The first being the Oneplus 5T, which was available in Star Wars: The Last Jedi Edition. With the OnePlus 6, the company partnered with Marvel to bring the Marvel Avengers Edition smartphone in select regions.

To extend the scope of these special editions, the firm collaborated with McLaren in 2018 to release the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition and became a sponsor of their Formula One team as well. The partnership continued with the company launching the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition. Both these limited-edition McLaren phones came with more RAM, a new and unique CMF (colour-material-finish), and offered the Warp Charge 30 fast charging. Unfortunately, it looks like this partnership has come to an end, as recent development indicates that the company may not launch its McLaren Edition smartphone this year.

As noted by the Redditor rudefyet, OnePlus was no longer listed as a 2020 Formula One partner on the McLaren website. According to XDA-Developers, OnePlus remain listed until March 29 at the very least. This indicates that it is unlikely for the company to bring another McLaren Edition smartphone. It might be disappointing for those who were anticipating a OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8T McLaren Edition this time around. So, it might be safe to presume that the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition was the last of its line.

This doesn’t mean OnePlus is likely to drop its popular special edition smartphones, as the company could very well team up with a new brand to release a new special edition smartphone altogether.
