How to turn off the touchscreen on Lenovo

Lenovo Yoga series (also known as Lenovo YOGA) is a range of smart and classy Lenovo laptops.

What is special and very unique and cutting-edge about this series is that all the devices have hinged screens, which allows them to have multiple forms and features and, as a result, multiple uses. There are many options and features on these devices to suit the needs of various users, including multiple user interfaces. However, this aspect also makes it difficult and confusing for users sometimes to enable or disable a particular feature. It might also pose a challenge to the users to navigate effectively across the device and explore the plethora of options available to perform various functions and complete different tasks. In this article, we will address one such issue, about one such feature, the Touch Screen option, to try to make your user experience with Lenovo a lot better.

Steps to turn off the Lenovo touchscreen

Lenovo Yoga Series has two options for input methods, in keeping with the users’ preference:

Keyboard

Touchscreen

Many users might prefer to use the touchscreen option but might need to switch to the keyboard at times, either for convenience or to extend the battery life of the device. In this article, we will guide you about how to turn off the touchscreen on Lenovo.

The instructions to turn off the Touch Screen are given stepwise below:

  1. Click on the start button.
  2. Use the Search Bar to look for the Device Manager app and select the top result to activate the app. (You might also choose to open Device Manager by pressing the Windows Key + X).
  3. Search for the Human Interface Device Branch. Once you locate it, expand the HID branch.
  4. Right-click on the touch screen item of the HID branch, and select the Disable device option to complete the action.
  5. When you see the dialogue box popping up on your screen, click on the “Yes” option.

After you complete all these steps in order, the touch screen will be disabled, and the device will no longer respond to touch gestures.

Re-enabling

If, at any point, you change your mind and wish to re-enable the touch screen option, follow all the above-mentioned steps again in order. Just in step 4., instead of clicking on the disable option, select the enable option. The touch screen will be re-enabled.

Further assistance:

It is possible that, in rare cases, the touchscreen option might not be disabled even after performing all the steps mentioned earlier in the order. In such a case, try to restart your laptop once. After restarting, follow all the steps mentioned above to see if the option to disable the touch screen works. If it is still defunct, you might need to call Lenovo Customer Care for assistance.

Apart from disabling the touch screen option, these steps will also help you troubleshoot and fix the screen’s problems. It might help you to resolve issues like the touch screen suddenly not working or the screen getting frozen at times.
