I remember when I was younger I used to hate having to park the car.

I could never parallel park properly and if I ever had to back it into a Parking space it would take me ages.

These days i’m much better at it and you really don’t even need to be that good at parking anymore thanks to all the different sensors and systems that modern cars come equipped with.

Unfortunately for me I’m driving a 2002 Volvo S60 so it doesn’t have any of the modern bells and whistles that some people might be used to.

To make things easier I decided to look for the best Parking Sensor so I could park in tighter spaces without having to get out and check.

The Zone Tech Car Reverse Backup Radar System was one of the first ones I stumbled onto when I was looking for a system to get set-up in my car.

The way it works is by using 4 sensors, that you have to install into the rear bumper with the helpful included drill bit, and the sensors use an ultrasonic signal that will let you know how close you are to the object. person, or car behind you when you’re backing up.

There is a neat little LED display that you can install somewhere inside your car on the dashboard that lets you know how close you are to any obstacle behind you and you also get a receiver unit for the sensors that can send the signal to the display screen.

The system takes advantage of an adaptive environment technology so that even if it’s cold or raining outdoors the sensors will still be able to work and the parts are made of a durable, quality material so you’re hopefully able to enjoy this system for a suitable period of time.

Keep in mind that installation can be tricky and if you’re not confident in your skills when it comes to operating a drill and working on your vehicle you might to consider bringing this kit to your local mechanic and having them set it up for you.

ePathChina Mini LED Display 4 Sensors Kit

The ePathChina Mini LED Display 4 Sensors Kit is another sensor system that I would recommend checking out if you’re looking for some help when it comes to backing up or parking in situations where you have to reverse the car.

This one comes with 4 different sensors along with a LED screen and 3 stage alarm system to let you know how close you’re getting to the obstacle behind you.

Installation can be quite tricky depending on your automotive skills and I’d recommend heading to your local mechanic if you’re not confident getting this system setup and hooking it up to the electrical system in your car.

When it’s fully working it will automatically activated when the vehicle is put into reverse and everything you need for getting it installed properly except for the drill is included in the kit.

It’s able to detect objects within a distance of 0 to 250 centimeters and as your vehicle approaches obstacles less than 150 centimeters away the alarm will start to warn you.

Thanks to the weatherproof design is able to be used in a wide range of temperatures from -30 degrees Celsius all the way up to 70 degrees Celsius and the display will work from the -20 degrees Celsius up to 60 degrees Celsius.

I quite like the ePathChina Mini LED Display 4 Sensors Kit and I really like how the screen displays a distance from the obstacle while being easy to read as well.

XD-066 LED Display Car Reverse Backup Radar

THe XD-066 LED Display Car Reverse Backup Radar comes with 4 sensors along with a color LED display that allows for the distance between a vehicle and an obstacle to be determined if it’s too close.

With the lights on the LED display it’s possible to determine which side of the rear of the vehicle is closest to the obstacle behind you and it also will beep with an increasing frequency as the vehicle gets closer to an object that’s picked up by the sensors.

Overall, it’s a very straightforward back-up parking system and comes with just about everything you would need to get it installed apart from a drill.

I quite like the display and the sensor box can be attached anywhere inside your trunk or near the rear of the vehicle where you’ll want it to be positioned.

As for installation, make sure to follow the instructions and if you’re having trouble you can head to your local mechanic or just check out some YouTube videos online on getting it installed.

Striker Adjustable Garage Parking Sensor

I recommend checking out the Striker Adjustable Garage Parking Sensor if you’re parking your car in a garage where you have the space and can install this sensor on the wall.

The way it works is quite interesting – it takes advantage of an ultrasonic range-finding tech that can be adjusted depending on your preferences to locate your car, truck, or other vehicle inside your garage and let you know when you should stop pulling forward or reversing.

It will need to be installed and positioned on a wall where you can see the signal light from the driver’s seat and the sensor will have to be mounted right in front of the bumper at the same level as where it’s positioned on your car or truck.

To adjust it you need to park your car where you normally would in front of the sensor and then press the set button so that it will be able to inform you when your vehicle is in your preferred position.

Once it has been installed and properly set up a green light will go off as your vehicle approaches the sensor, the yellow light will be triggered and you should slow down, and as you have reached your preferred distance from the sensor the red light will go off and the vehicle should be stopped.

I really love this parking sensor system because I don’t have to worry as much about backing the car into the garage wall and I can keep the car parked in roughly the same spot every time.

Getting it installed is quite straightforward and everything you need to get it positioned and mounted up on the wall is included in the Box along with instructions on how to set it up.

I would definitely recommend checking out the Striker Adjustable Garage Parking Sensor if you’re parking in the garage or a tight space where you can mount the sensor system on the wall and want to use it as a parking guide.

BeneGlow Dual-core Front and Rear Backup Radar System

The BeneGlow Dual-core Front and Rear Backup Radar System comes with sensors for both the rear of the car for backing up as well as ones for the front so you can determine how close you are to the car or any other obstacles in front of you.

Once it has been set up the sensors on the front are activated while the vehicle is braking and while the vehicle is in reverse all of the 4 rear sensors are activated along with the LCD display and 2 of the front sensors as well.

The LCD display that it comes with is quite accurate and is able to show the range of an obstacle in centimeters and the sensors take advantage of a weatherproof design so they’re able to be used year-round regardless of the outdoor weather conditions.

As for any alerts there is a 7 speed volume and it’s possible to switch between for different sound modes depending on your preferences as well as take advantage of 3 alarm modes for obstacle detection.

Installation is quite straightforward but can be tricky depending on your skill set.

Keep in mind that you will need quite a few different tools to get everything set up and running so if you’re not handy with a range of different tools or comfortable installing this system I recommend bringing it to your local mechanic and having them do it for you.

Reverse Parking Tips

Even with a car parking sensor there are still a few things to consider when you’re parking your car in reverse and you never want to rely completely on the sensor to get everything done for you.

It’s actually a good idea to park in reverse in parking lots if you can so that you can pull out more easily and see the traffic around you and if you’re parallel parking you’re also going to have to reverse the car into a tight space.

Here are some helpful tips on reverse parking and things to keep in mind whenever the car is moving backwards under your control:

Use your Signal

Whether you’re parallel parking or reversing into a parking space it’s a good idea to always use your signal so that you can indicate to the people around you what your intentions are with your vehicle.

With your signal on other drivers will be able to see what you’re doing and can adjust their driving according to your actions and it also helps to prevent anyone from getting surprised as to what it is you’re trying to do on the road.

Take your Time

Behind-the-wheel a lot of people get flustered when there are other people around and it can be these quick actions that lead to accidents.

When you’re trying to back into a parking space or parallel park the car on a busy street try not to worry about anyone else around you and just focus on the task at hand.

As soon as you start to stress out about what other people around you are doing you draw attention away from parking and this can result in a careless mistake that you otherwise would have been able to avoid.

One of the most important things I have learned when it came to backing up the car or parallel parking was to use the mirrors as much as I could.

Once you learn to calculate a rough estimate of the distance of any obstacle behind you that you can see with your car mirrors you can get a better idea of how much space you have to work with.

Along with using a parking sensor I’ve also been able to park quite well these days thanks to better mirror positioning and I definitely recommend picking at the mirrors as much as you can to make sure that your car is positioned properly and to keep an eye on any obstacles around you.
