A new year means new flagship smartphones are on the way, and today we’re getting an early look at one of LG’s upcoming handsets.

New Renders claim to show the LG G9. There are several changes that we can see in these CAD-based renders from OnLeaks and CashKaro, including a much smaller notch at the top of the G9’s screen. While the LG G8 ThinQ has a sizable notch for its front camera and sensors, the LG G9 has a small waterdrop notch with just enough room for a selfie cam.

Around back is where we can spy another big change. The LG G9 appears to have as many as four Rear Cameras on its backside, which would be double the number found on the G8.

There’s no rear fingerprint reader visible on this LG G9, suggesting that it could have an in-display fingerprint sensor, which would be another change from the G8. Today’s report suggests that the G9’s screen could measure between 6.7 and 6.9 inches. That would be a big jump from the 6.1-inch display found on the LG G8 ThinQ.

There is one thing that’s not changing from the LG G8 to the G9, and it’s the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack. One of the major features that LG has offered in its recent flagships is a Hi-Fi DAC for improved audio with wired headphones, and so it looks like that feature could return in the G9. In a world where many other major smartphone makers are abandoning the 3.5mm jack, there could be lots of folks happy to see the G9 sticking with it.

These renders also show a USB-C port on the bottom of the LG G9, volume and power buttons on the left side, and what may be a Google Assistant button on the right side. Today’s report claims that the LG G9 could measure 169.4 x 77.6 x 8.8mm in size. To compare, the LG G8 measures 151.9 x 71.8 x 8.4mm.

LG announced the G8 at MWC last year, and so we could see the G9 get its official reveal around the same time this year. MWC 2020 will take place from February 24th-27th.
