AMD’s mid-range power play, the Radeon RX 5700XT, just got a lot more interesting in India. ITDepot currently has a Sapphire RX 5700XT selling for just Rs. 35020. This actually makes it cheaper than many custom RTX 2060
The Radeon RX 5700XT was always going to be about price/performance. At launch, AMD announced a last-minute price-cut to make the 5700XT and 5700 price-competitive with Nvidia’s Super offerings. Despite this, the base 2060 and 2070 Super bracketed it remained better buys: The regular 2060 was perfectly adequate for 1440p, while the 2070 Super delivered a creditable 4K experience. And both supported RTX, which the Navi cards obviously do not.
However, pricing seems to be on AMD’s side at the moment. We have no idea how long this unusual pricing situation will last, but for the time, the RX 5700XT at 35K is the best graphics card you can get in the sub-40k range. We do want to note here that the model in question is based on AMD’s reference blower design. Reference coolers have always been AMD’s weak point. I personally had a reference RX 480 (from Sapphire, no less) for a few months and just didn’t want to deal with that horrible jet-engine blower. The solution? A custom XFX 580: quieter, better temps, higher clocks, just all-around better.
We expect board partners to be available in the Indian market very soon. Some have already “released” custom boards, though actual availability is a different question. Considering the phenomenal amount of overclocking headroom Navi has under ideal conditions, we’d advise waiting for a few weeks until the custom boards come out: You just might end up with a 2070 Super killer on your hands.
