Apple MacBook Pro Lineup Updated with Intel 8th & 9th Gen CPUs: Keyboards Finally Fixed?

Apple has silently updated its Macbook Pro lineup with the new Intel 8th and 9th Gen processors. The new MacBook Pros feature a new 8 core – i9 Processor coupled with 32 GB Ram. The new 15 inch Pro can now Turbo Boost up to 5GHz with a base clock of 2.4 GHz for the i9 variant. These hardware updates, however, are limited to the 13 inch and 15-inch touch bar models.

The non-touch bar models still run on the Intel 2017 processors. On the storage side of things, the new Pros feature options ranging from 256 GB up to 4 TB PCIe NVMe SSD. Apart from that, the highest end MacBook Pro 15 inch comes with Radeon Pro Vega 20 with 4GB of HBM2 memory for graphics performance.

The major deal breaker in the older MacBook Pros was the keyboard design which failed very often with repeated keystrokes and mistyping. Apple might have finally fixed its 3 – year old problem with a new iteration of butterfly keyboard. The company claims that this new keyboard will reduce the problems caused on the older MacBook Pro butterfly keyboards and give a better typing experience.

The new laptops also feature Apple’s new Retina display with True Tone Technology to give adaptive display tone according to its environment. The 15.4-inch LED panel rocks 500 nits of brightness along with a resolution of 880 by 1800 pixels. Apple claims that the laptop lasts up to 10 hours on the battery while wirelessly browsing the web.

According to Apple, the new MacBook Pros offers 40% better performance compared to the 6 core version and up to 2x performance compared to the 4 core variant.

By looking at the benchmarks, the new 8-core MacBook Pro offers 2x more performance in Logic Pro X and 75% faster processing in Adobe Photoshop CC.

The 13 inch MacBook Pro starts from $1799 and 15inch versions come at $2399. These devices are targeted towards content creators and media professionals who like to carry their workstation around.
