Progress in Constantinople, and the reward for miners is the theme of the next working meeting of developers of Ethereum

The Developers of Ethereum (ETH) 24 Aug held another meeting, which was broadcast on YouTube. During the meeting they discussed many questions connected, mainly, with the upcoming fork of Constantinople.

The meeting began with a discussion of the tests and of the progress made in developing key customers ETH, and one of the developers explained that there is a need to update some tests to avoid potential problems with consensus in the future.

As for Constantinople, over the past two weeks, almost nothing has changed. The developers have reported several bugs fixed and new settings for the test network. It was also noted that the EIP-1211 will not be included in the upcoming fork.

The developers also agreed that it is better to move on schedule, than to try to accommodate the maximum number of EIP in the updates.

In addition, it was decided to release the forks every 8 months (not 6). This mode of operation was recognized as more comfortable for the developers.

Further discussion was devoted to the question of “bombs,” and its influence on the Reward for miners. At the moment there are three proposals: EIP-858 reduces the reward to 1 ETH per unit, EIP-1234 – 2 ETH, whereas the EIP-1295 retains the reward-level 3 ETH, but affects other factors such as the structure of rewards in the system of proof of work (PoW).

The participants of the meeting failed to come to a common opinion, so this issue decided to discuss further on 31 August.
