Microsoft is implementing an ID system based on the blockchain

Microsoft announced its plans for the integration of decentralized Identification systems based on Blockchain (DID) in the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Reportedly, Microsoft wants to create a new model of digital identification, which is not controlled by any centralized institution and will guarantee the privacy of personal data. At the same time, users will be able to fully control “all the elements of your digital ID”.

After consideration of a number of standards for decentralized systems of identification in Microsoft decided that the technology and the Protocol, the blockchain “perfect” for this task:

Some public blackany (e.g., Bitcoin [BTC], Ethereum, Litecoin) can serve as an excellent basis for the DID, record transactions DPKI and certifications.

Microsoft plans to add support for the DID to Microsoft Authenticator for the identity management and cryptographic key. According to the company, the app, which was launched in August 2016, used by millions of people.

Microsoft is not the only one who came up with the idea to combine system identification and blockchain, a number of governments around the world are considering the implementation of identification systems based on blockchain data to citizens under their own control, and not under the control of States or corporations.
