Uber is studying launching a new service linked to its home delivery business. As Business Insider has learned , the San Francisco-based company is testing in the UK a subscription service associated with UberEats . This has been confirmed to him by Toussaint Wattinne, one of the directors of the subsidiary for restoration of the unicorn in his subsidiary in England, in an interview.
Few details are known about this Subscription model, although the medium speculates that the payment of a monthly or annual fee could save customers the costs of delivering orders . In addition, it could include another series of extra benefits, such as access to offers and promotions or exclusive menus for members of the service.
The Uber company is in a testing and experimentation phase. The change in the corporate model that Dara Khosrowshashi is imposing has not made them forget that the central objective of any company is to obtain benefits; more when, as in the case of Uber, losses are important.
Khosrowshashi has already secured the entry of money from the hand of SoftBank , with the purchase of an important stake and the investment made to the elderly, and plans to regularize the economic situation with a view to going public in 2019.
The creation of a subscription service in Ubereats could favor the consolidation of Uber’s food delivery business. According to data from The Financial Times, the subsidiary of the ridesharing platform could have moved about 3,000 million dollars in sales in 2017.
Precisely the transport business of Uber in England is in a critical phase. The company has appealed the decision of the transport authorities of London not to renew the license, which would eventually lead to its departure from the British capital.
