WhatsApp could soon look very different thanks to a brand new update

Whatsapp could soon take on a very different look if a new rumour about the popular messaging application is to be believed.

WhatsApp is used by roughly 1.5billion people across the globe.
Because of this, it is widely considered to be the most popular messenger in the world.

Next month those using the application on Android are set for a big change.
At the moment this currently deducts from the user's overall storage space on Google Drive.

However, thanks to a new deal struck by Google and the Facebook-owned messaging giant, all chat data will no longer take away from the Drive quota.
WhatsApp has announced from November 12 the change will take place, but it added users should ensure their chats have been backed up before the period to ensure any precious files are not lost.

The messaging client said: "Starting November 12, 2018, WhatsApp backups will no longer count towards the Google Drive storage quota.

"Furthermore, WhatsApp backups that haven't been updated in more than one year will be automatically removed from Google Drive storage.

"To avoid the loss of any backups, we recommend you manually back up your WhatsApp data before November 12, 2018."
This does not apply to Apple devices - they harness iCloud for the same purpose instead.

However, it appears WhatsApp could also be set for another big update that could make the app look very different for all users.

A Twitter account by the name of WABetaInfo recently insisted the team behind the hugely-popular service are currently working on a dark mode.

They said: "I’m happy to exclusively give the good news: WhatsApp is finally working on a dark mode! It’s a dream.
"There are many important secret references in recent updates!

"Be patient to see it out, hoping it will be FULL OLED friendly for Android phones, iPhone X and newer!"
WABetaInfo is a website that is known for looking through new WhatsApp code that hints at future updates for users.

And it seems the site has found evidence to suggest a dark mode is coming for WhatsApp fans.

Unfortunately no detailed information was provided surrounding the potential release date of the new function.
Although WhatsApp has not officially confirmed they it is working on the mode, such a move would not be completely alien.
