Snapchat's new February 2018 update is released to the UK and users are NOT happy about it

The new Snapchat update has been released but it has not gone down well with users in the UK.
Changes to the layout of the app have been made and the Friends, Discover and Stories sections have all had a makeover.

The revamp aims to separate 'social' and 'media', creating a clear distinction between interactions with friends and content from publishers and creators.

A spokesperson for Snapchat said: “Updates as big as this one can take a little getting used to, but we hope the community will enjoy it once they settle in.”

The app will automatically update for most people using the latest iOS and Android operating systems. If your app doesn’t automatically update, head to either the App Store (for Apple devices) or Play Store (for Android devices), and install the update from there, as reported in The Mirror.

In the update, Snapchat still opens to the camera, but swiping left reveals a new 'Friends' page, where users see Stories from the friends they talk to the most.

Swiping right from the camera now reveals a redesigned 'Discover' page, where users will see Stories from publishers, creators, and the community.

While the Discover content used to be presented in a horizontal scroll, the new screen serves content in a full-screen, vertical scroll, ordered based on what is most relevant to you.

As part of the redesign, Snapchat has added a few other additions.

Your own Story can be managed through your Profile page, while Group Chats will automatically have their own Group Story. And finally, the Snap Map will now appear on the Discover page in Search.

Thousands of users have taken to Twitter to express their anger at the update.

Amber Frank said: "The new Snapchat update is more complicated than trying to turn on your friends' shower."

And Abigail Ratchford even went so far as to say: "This new Snapchat update...about to delete my account."
