Refrigerators have almost become a mandatory home appliance for today’s modern lifestyle.Without the Refrigerator your kitchen is incomplete and simply you are making your lifestyle  more difficult.

Gone are the days when you have the time or luxury to go to market each day to bring your necessary commodities daily.

There was time when Refrigerators was considered the thing for the rich and  only few people could afford it.But with the changing times it has become a integral part of almost all middle-upper class people.

In these days it is rather common to buy your daily stuffs once and store all those in your  home refrigerator. In this way you can both save your time and money.

But buying a refrigerator is another tricky thing. Specially when the market is flooded with so many brands and choices it is a very difficult job to pick the right refrigerator for your need!

So if you are looking to buy a new refrigerator and wondering what to do,you have come to the right place.

In this post I will outline the 10 factors you should consider when buying a refrigerator.

So let’s start.

#Family Size(Number of Members)

The first thing you consider before buying any refrigerator is the number of members of your family who will use it.

If you are a bachelor or buying refrigerator for a single person, then  a A small frost free refrigerator will suffice you needs.

A capacity ranging from 45 to 80 lit. single door frost free refrigerator is the ideal one I recommend.

But if you are buying it for a family of 4-5 then a refrigerator ranging from 200 to 350 lit. with mulitidoor option is the best option.

It is also better to  go with the model equipped with larger vegetable bin for that extra storage.

But what happens if you have a large family of 6-7 people?

Then it is best to go with the double door, side-by-side and bottom mounted models  which will provide you the space you need for the daily usage.

Models with 300 to 450 lit. storage capacity can be your ideal choice.

Lastly if you are buying for commercial purposes or large offices then Refrigerators with 700-800 lit storage capacity, Side-by-side models are great options as opening of single door reduces heat loss significantly.

#Energy Consumption

The one of the most significant part for buying the modern refrigerator as to choose the model with the most Energy saving  capability which results in the lower electricity consumption.

One option is to buy the refrigerator with the highest ENERGY STAR ratings.

Now What is ENERGY STAR rating?

ENERGY STAR is a special symbol authorized by  Bureau of Energy Efficiency(BEE ), a government backed system ratings which ensures the energy efficiency of the machine.

The Highest is 5 star and the lowest is the 2 star .

So anything above 4 star can be considered as an energy efficient refrigerator and consumes less amount of electricity.

Though the price tag is a little higher for those 5 star ones but it completely worth the money in the long run.

So whenever possible go for a 5tar or at least 4 star rating refrigerator.

# Conventional Compressors V/S Digital Inverter Compressors

One of the modern advancement of the compressor section is the rise of Digital Inverter Compressors. In case of normal compressors they start and stop multiple times to maintain the desired temperature.

But Digital Inverter Compressors completely works a little different. They start slow and when the desired temperature is achieved they slow down but never stops.

This trigger the less electricity consumption delivering upto  40 percent more energy efficiency than conventional compressors.

The use of Digital Inverter Compressors  also decrease the green house gases (CO2, CFC) emissions significantly which makes them more environment friendly.

#Consider your space

Another  Factor  to consider before buying any refrigerator is the space availability.

If you are limited on space there is no way you can accommodate those larger 2 door or multidoor refrigerators.

So what are the options?

Mini  refrigerators.

There are many small mini refrigerators available (ranging around 50 lt.) can be your best options.

They are quipped with  thermostat which allows you to set the temperature in the freezer compartment and works really well.

They also have the Low Power Consumption, Stabilizer Free Operation facilities to make the job done!

So always  keep in mind the above refrigerator buying tips discussed and I am sure you will never make a bad decision again.
