Audi A4 Cabriolet May Replace The A3, A5 And TT Droptops

The Audi A4 Cabriolet was discontinued in 2008, but a new report claims that it may be coming back. Audi currently offers the A3 and A5 Cabriolet and TT Roadster, but all three droptops may be replaced by a new A4 Cabriolet.

According to Autobild, the A4 Cabriolet may replace the current slow selling Audi convertible models. Sedans are not the only body style that has become a victim of the crossover, since coupes and convertibles have also had a hard time competing. Rather than continue to offer three small convertibles, the new A4 could replace them all.

If the report is accurate, the new A4 Cabriolet will be based on VW’s MQB platform and it will go head to head with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class convertible and BMW 4-Series. There’s even a chance that Audi could offer a plug-in hybrid version as an option.

There’s no official word yet from Audi or even a suggestion on when the A4 Cabriolet could come back. Stay tuned.
