After the revolutionary features of latest generation smartphones, everybody is wondering what the future looks like in this case. Could there be something even more advanced than the fingerprint scanner and facial recognition features? A long discussion could result if we were to ask smartphone users what they consider to be the most secure authentication method. A certain fact is that, if we combine all those methods, the result will amaze even the pickiest people.
What’s the innovation
Voices say that there are developers who try to release an “Intelligent” scanning method, a combination between Iris Scanner and facial recognition. Both ways are already available in the latest smartphones – Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8, but so far they haven’t been combined. Also, there is no evidence of the fact that Samsung is ready to invest in new hardware, so the iris scan and face unlock feature could be obtained due to better software.
Why should we combine iris and face scan?
After thinking how this combination could work, we start wondering what would be the advantage of proceeding. The answer is that both types of scanning can have accuracy problems due to light conditions. If they are combined, biometric security could be double protected. However, this method wouldn’t be as secure as 3D face recognition and fingerprint scanning would win over it.
Will it become a reality?
This amazing feature was discovered during the making of Android Oreo for Galaxy Note. There are people who think that the scan will be available within the Galaxy S9, but, as long as it is a software feature, we might even see it in smartphones launched in 207. Let’s see how Samsung intends to use it, considering 3D face scanning or a displayed fingerprint scanner.
