Asus Zenfone 4 (ZE554KL) has received Android 8.0 Oreo OS and it seems that the update will be rolled out in batches. The FOTA update will be used on several smartphones of the ZenFone 4 series such as ZenFone 5, ZenFone 4 Selfie, ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro, ZenFone 4 Pro and other variants.
Android Oreo to reach all ZenFone 4 by next week
Asus has announced on ZenTalk forums that all ZenFone 4 units will receive the Android Oreo OS in a week. Those who want to make sure their device got the newest Android OS have to know that the update will be notified by a push notification.
A manual check can also be made by heading to Settings>About> System Update. The software version V15.0405.1711.76 is also included, as well as an upgraded launcher supporting swipe up gestures.
Android Oreo features available for ZenFone 4
Apart from the custom tweaks, the OS update also includes Oreo features such as Autofill, Smart text selection, Background limits and Picture-in-Picture mode. Also Android Instant App and a new emoji set will also become available.
Asus ZenFone 4
The first ZenFone 4 smartphone included a 1.2 GHz dual core Intel Atom Z2520 saltwell processor and 1GB of RAM. The frontal camera is a 0.3MP and the rear one is of 5MP. The device does not come with LED flash and the display model is of 4-inch WVGA 800 x 480.
The ZenFone 4 ZE554KL released last year in August features a 5.5-inch full HD IPS display and a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The dual camera setup is backed by a 12-megapixel Sony IMX362 image sensor and there is also an 8 megapixel camera sensor available. Connectivity options available include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11a, FM radio, 3.5 mm audiojack and USB Type-C.
