There is a new Notebook from Samsung, the Notebook 9 Pen which comes with a lightweight design and hides inside the latest Intel Core i7 processor, and big batteries for what Samsung calls an ‘always-on’ experience.
The models of Notebook 9 will come out in 2018 in different models: 13.3-inch or 15-inch notebooks and a 13-inch Notebook 9 Pen 2-in-1 – which is foldable and has an S Pen inside a slot near the touchpad. All three notebooks have a magnesium-aluminum chassis.

Looking at the Notebook 9 Pen, we will see a device that comes with a 360-degree hinge that allows the user to twist the notebook into a tablet and draw on it with the S Pen. This notebook weights almost 1 kg (995g), has Intel HD Graphics and a display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The device can be configured to up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB SSD internal storage.
Notebook 9 Pen has fewer ports than the other two: one USB-C port, one USB 3.0 port, an HDMI port, and a microSD port. It also comes with an IR camera that will allow users to sign-in via Windows Hello facial recognition. This notebook has a 35Wh battery, smaller than the 13.3-inch and 15-inch non-hybrid models.

The other Notebook 9 models, 13.3-inch and 15-inch come with up to 16GB of RAM and 8th generation Core i7 but with more internal storage options that go up to 1 TB SSD. They have the same displays as the Notebook 9 Pen: Intel HD Graphics, 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, but can get Nvidia GeForce MX150 graphics. These two models come with what Samsung claims to be the most powerful battery and the largest one in a notebook, a 75Wh Hexacell battery that offers an ‘always-on’ experience.
The smaller Notebook 9 offers the same ports as the Notebook 9 Pen, with the difference that it has an extra USB 3.0 port. The 15-inch Notebook 9 comes with either one Thunderbolt 3 port or a one USB Type C, but it will have as standard: two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, an HDMI port, and a microSD slot.
We will see the Notebook 9 series at the CES 2018 and they will be launched in the US in the first quarter of 2018. In Korea and other countries that haven’t been mentioned yet, the Notebook 9 series will be released this month.
