These vehicles are so smart, that they know how to make an entrance! While everyone in the public was waiting to see the Tesla semi-Truck a couple of days ago, they were in for a surprise. Out of the back of the semi-trailer came out a Tesla Roadster.
Elon Musk stated that this is the fastest production car that they’ve ever made.
The Roadster Stealing the Show for Itself
We’re looking at a sports car that has three motors, all-wheel drive and battery pack of 200kWh. Elon Musk promised it can reach 60 mph in 1.9 seconds. In only 4.2 seconds you can reach 100 mph and go up to 250 mph.
It has four seats, although Elon Musk suggested that the back seats are not meant for ‘giant people’. This beautiful beast is also a convertible that will carry you for 600 miles with only one charge – twice than the Model S sedan, their flagship car at this moment.
Of course, not many can afford this car, as it comes at an exorbitant price $200,000 – $250,000 (a ‘founders series’). If you can buy it, then you’ll have to wait more than two years, because the production will start in 2020.
For those that are not that rich, there’s the truck that comes with four motors, a driver’s seat that is centered, and an aerodynamic design. The most important thing is how much it can go with a single charge: up to 500 miles. A base version will only get to 300 miles, that will not be a problem for truck drivers since Tesla added a speed charging option in which it only needs 30 minutes to charge for another 400 miles.
The truck gets from 0 to 60 in 5 seconds if it’s empty and from 0 to 60 in 20 seconds if it carries 80,000 of weight. Driving the truck will be much easier with no need of shifting gears – it has an advanced traction control system.
The truck is impressive, and it not only saves fuel, but it also has autopilot tech that is great for long roads. While we don’t know the price yet, Tesla took reservations for their models and asked for a $5,000 deposit.
While announcing these two vehicles, we also must remind you that Tesla is currently working on their production of Model 3 Sedan. This is their top priority, as there are many customers that have reserved the model.
