The Chicago-based company has announced on its official website the devices which will get the Android 8.0 Oreo update. So far, Motorola took users by surprise when it came to Android updates. Sometimes the updates would happen incredibly fast and some other times users would have to wait a long while until their smartphones OS would get updated.
The devices which are to benefit from the Oreo update
So far, the company published a list of smartphones on their official blog. All the devices are to get the Android 8.0 Oreo update: Moto Z, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Force Droid, Moto Z Play, Moto Z Play Droid, Moto Z 2 Play, Moto Z 2 Force Edition, Moto X4, Moto G5, Moto G5 Plus, Moto G5S, Moto G5S Plus.
By taking a quick look at the list there are some devices which were left out. For example Moto G 2015 and Moto E 2015 were excluded from the list. In the past, Motorola also announced that the devices would not receive Android Nougat update either. So far, Moto E 2015 only received Android Marshmallow OS update in some parts of the world (not in the US).
Some other smartphone devices excluded from the list are Moto E3 (2016) and Moto E4 (2017).These two devices, together with Moto C line have been excluded from getting Android 8.0 Oreo update.

It is not known how long it will take for the update to rollout itself, but connoisseurs believe that Moto Z2 and Moto X4 will receive it between November and December. Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are expected to receive the update next year in January or February. It is speculated that the last devices to receive the Oreo update will be the Moto Z first gen line, in May next year.
