After the launch of Google Pixel 4a, the search engine giant drew the attention of those who were eagerly awaiting the arrival of the cheapest variant of the Pixel 4 series. However, Pixel fans will be unhappy to know that, as of today, the company will neither officially manufacture nor sell the Pixel 4 nor the 4 XL devices.

The measure is possibly adopted to “prepare the ground” for the arrival of the Pixel 5, leaving the rest of the stocks in the hands of retailers.

It is a tradition of Google to stop selling the latest Pixel models before the arrival of its successors. The same happened with the Pixel 3a, for example, in July, however, the launch of the 4a ended up being quite delayed.

Currently, it is no longer possible to find the most recent top-of-the-line from Google on its official website, meaning interested parties will have to appeal to purchase from other stores or, at worst, from second-hand models.

The Pixel 4 line should continue to receive system updates until October 2022, including security updates.

Most interesting of all is that the Pixel 4a should not hit stores in the U.S. until August 20, which means that interested in purchasing the latest smartphone from Google will only be able to do so in a few weeks.

Although Google does not release sales figures, analysts suggest that the company has experienced a considerable drop in public interest in its products.

This year, interestingly, the company ended up not offering any interesting promotions for the top of the line on its official website, as it usually does before discontinuing the models – which can be a bad indication.
