August Home, known for its intelligent locks and smart home access services, announced last year that Smart Lock is compatible with the Google Assistant at Google Home, making August the first smart lock on the market that supports all three main voice services. control platforms. Regardless of whether you prefer Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alex, or Google Assistant, August Smart Lock will work with the platform. During Mobile World Congress 2018, August Home announced enhanced Google Assistant support for DoorSense, the company's door sensor.
What does this mean for you? With this latest feature, the new Smart Lock and August Smart Lock Pro will tell you if your door is open or closed. If you have DoorSense installed on the door (along with one of these new locks), you can simply say, "Hey, Google, are my doors closed?" In addition, August facilitated interaction with inputs via voice. If you want to close the door or see if it's open, just say "Hey, Google, close the front door" or "Ok, Google, are my doors closed?" You do not need to add the "Ask seat" part of the command for longer.
"Voice control is still a significant contributor to smart home use, and Google Assistant at Google Home is a key partner for ensuring user satisfaction," said Jason Johnson, CEO of August Home.
Smart Lock itself allows users to lock or unlock doors using a personal smartphone. In addition, you can create virtual keys for guests, and the activity log tracks everyone who activates the device throughout the day, every day. When paired with a smart keyboard, owners can come up with unique access codes for family, friends and service providers. The bell camera complements the home access configuration. Regardless of whether you are at home or not, users can see and talk with guests at the door using a smartphone.
Last, the third generation of August, Smart Locks introduced a new Auto-Connect technology that automatically detects whether you are in front of your door or remotely accessing the lock. Now that your August Lock is really aware of your location, you can control your door from any place – when you want to check the status of your smart lock or someone from a distance, just open the lock screen August application. The lock does not have to wait for the Wi-Fi connection – instead, the whole process is smooth and automatic. As August notes, it means "no more waiting for a connection or wondering if you closed the door when you left the house – now you can immediately confirm that your door is closed since the August application".
The August Smart Lock Pro and Connect package is now available for USD 279.
Updated May 3: thanks to Auto-Connect you can now confirm the status of your door via the August app.
