Samsung Exynos 9810 SoC With Better Face Recognition Launched

Last month, Qualcomm launched their next flagship mobile processor called the Snapdragon 845. Now Samsung has launched their flagship SoC called Exynos 9 series 9810 ahead of CES 2018. The processor will be powering the Samsung’s upcoming flagships Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.

The processor is based on its second-generation 10nm FinFET process technology and Samsung claims that the Exynos 9810 is its most innovative mobile processor till date. It claims to have enhanced the single core performance by two-fold and a 40% increase in the multi-core performance.

“The Exynos 9 Series 9810 is our most innovative mobile processor yet, with our third-generation custom CPU, ultra-fast gigabit LTE modem and, deep learning-enhanced image processing,” said Ben Hur, vice president of System LSI marketing at Samsung Electronics. “The Exynos 9810 will be a key catalyst for innovation in smart platforms such as smartphones, personal computing and automotive for the coming AI era.”

The processor comes with 8 cores CPU, four of which are powerful 3rd gen custom cores clocked at 2.9GHz and other four are for increasing efficiency clocked at 1.9GHz. It will result in seamless multi-tasking and faster load and transactions time. The Exynos 9810 comes with neural network based deep learning algorithms and better security.

This will help in features like Facial recognition through which you can do a faster image search and with enhanced security unlock your smartphone via Facial Recognition. We have already seen this in iPhone X and it will be interesting to see how it will perform against Apple’s A11 Bionic Chipset which is currently the best mobile processor.

“Exynos 9810 enables a depth sensing feature to scan user’s face in 3D for face tracking filters as well as strong security when unlocking a device with one’s face,” Samsung is talking a lot about 3D face tracking and it will definately be one of the most talked about feature of the upcoming Galaxy S9 smartphone.

It comes coupled with Mali-G72 MP18 GPU the will bring a 20% increase in performance than its predecessor. The SoC supports LPDDR4x RAM and cameras up to 24 megapixels on both the front and back and a 16-megapixel +16 megapixel dual camera setup.
