SharePoint Content Collaboration Now In Microsoft Teams: What’s New?

Microsoft Sharepoint and Teams are the two highly-preferred enterprise collaboration offerings by Microsoft for organizations around the globe. Over the last twelve months, Microsoft Teams has become the most widely used enterprise collaboration because of the amazing functionality, but more importantly for its simplicity. Known for making collaboration a breeze, Teams lacked some enhanced integration with its SharePoint backend for Document Management. Microsoft announced at the end of last year that SharePoint content collaboration would be now possible within Teams. True to their words, Microsoft has added the necessary functionality that will now allow you to use the combined power of these tools from within Teams in a better, smarter way. SharePoint’s content can be brought into Microsoft Teams as tabs; creating dashboards — making high workplace productivity, through improved collaboration, a very achievable goal.

Do you know what these updates are? Read on to find out.

How does this new update make the experience of Microsoft Teams better?

1. Improving the power of ‘Teams’

Using the ‘Add a Team’ button after selecting the content you want from SharePoint, your employees using Microsoft Teams can get access to everything in one place, at literally just a click of a button. Whether it is pages, lists, or libraries you can navigate to the primary document library from the Files tab.

2. Better SharePoint tab experience  in Teams

The SharePoint tab experience in Microsoft Teams has undergone an upgrade. You can pin any page or document library news as a separate tab in the Teams channel by clicking the ‘+’ button in a channel and pinning the content from SharePoint. Additionally, the SharePoint tab in Teams will have an interesting, all-new ‘Recommended’ section which will allow your employees to find relevant content from your SharePoint site and pin it in the Team channel.

3. Improvements to the SharePoint pages app

Another noteworthy feature is that you can now easily pick a page from any SharePoint site using its link and add it as a tab in Teams. In the updated version, it is easier to choose the pages from the connected site, just by pasting the URL. The SharePoint team site pages can be used as dashboards for content — links, news, activities or anything else.

The Next Level of Collaboration

With this latest update, the SharePoint admin center Migration Manager lets users select a Teams channel or OneDrive username for content migration. This deeper integration between SharePoint and Microsoft Teams comes at a much-needed time, supporting remote collaboration with ease and supporting effortless teamwork.
