We’re now less than a month out from the premiere of Game of Thrones season 7. HBO delivered the second trailer for the incoming season today, and it gives us a taste of what Westeros is like now that winter has arrived. How fitting, considering that this is the first day of summer for half of the world.
In the trailer, we can see that some areas in Westeros haven’t been frozen by the winds of winter just yet. Locations in the south of the continent, such as Dorne and King’s Landing, have been untouched by snow, but we’re guessing that doesn’t last for very long. That’s especially true if the remaining factions in Westeros can’t get over their differences fast enough to be able to deal with the horde of White Walkers on their doorstep.
As with the trailer before this, we don’t get to any in-depth looks at the major story arcs of season 7. Instead, we’re given glimpses of action which play alongside monologues from characters like Littlefinger, Jon Snow, and Sansa. Jon Snow’s monologue is of particular note, as he’s urging an unseen Character
(or characters) to once again team up to fight their common enemy. It’s pretty clear he’s talking about the White Walkers there, but who is he trying to convince?
Throughout the flashes of action, we see some interesting things. Beric Dondarrion seems to be back in action, flaming sword and all. It looks like the dragons are going to participating in quite a few scuffles this time around, and we even catch a glimpse of what appears to be Daenerys Targaryen’s Unsullied army storming King’s Landing.
Though this trailer is painfully devoid of any direct information, we don’t have that much longer to wait until we get to begin watching season 7 in all its glory. Game of Thrones season 7 premieres on HBO at 9 PM Eastern on July 16. Will you be watching? Head down to the comments section and let us know!
