Nokia 8 up for sale online before February 26th launch, priced at Rs 30,000 and comes with a bezel-less design

Nokia has a Launch event scheduled on February 26th, in Barcelona, Spain. The event is right before Mobile World Congress or MWC, the biggest smartphone technology event of the year kicks off on 28th February. So far, there have been a lot of speculations around the devices HMD, the brand presently manufacturing Nokia branded phones, is expected to launch at the event. While there have been rumours of a Nokia flagship device and also of the iconic Nokia 3310 and Nokia N series making a comeback, there has been no truly clarity on any of the details. But turns out, the one device that can be confirmed is the new Nokia flagship smartphone, the Nokia 8. Nokia 8 will be announced in the event and the phone will officially be up for sale post the launch event. While we have seen leaks regarding the Nokia flagship before, the phone was recently accidentally listed online recently, giving us a deeper insight into the device.
Nokia 8, which has previously been dubbed under many titles, Nokia D1C, Nokia P, etc is confirmed to launch as the flagship smartphone. Chinese retailer, JD.com has listed the smartphone on its site, a week before the actual launch. While the credibility of the listing cannot be verified, JD.com has been known to have listed and leaked other devices in the past. And the chances of the smartphone being fake are lesser this close to launch. According to the listing, the smartphone will launch on February 26th as expected and will go up for sale immediately in China - something which we advise you to take with a grain of salt. Unfortunately, only the first look of the Nokia 8 was leaked and there have been no leaks when it comes to the specifications or other special features. But going by the past leaks, we guess we have a fair idea of what the upcoming Nokia 8 will be all about - that is design as well as performance.
The highlight of the device - as per the leak, will be the near bezel-less display. Nokia 8 is expected to come with a larger display and hardly any bezels on the front of the device. The smartphone will run Android Nougat out of the box and in terms of display size, is expected to feature a 5.5 inch or a 5.7 inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. It is still unknown which UI skin Nokia will be using atop stock Android. The smartphone will be heavy on looks and is expected to recreate the Nokia magic of old with the functioning. HMD Global is also rumoured to equip the smartphone with the Carl Zeiss optics - something that made the Nokia camera so famous. The rear end camera is said to be a 24 MP shooter and the front end camera will be a 12 MP shooter. The camera is expected to come with dual LED flash and as shown in the display, there might be some additional zoom feature.
Nokia 8 is pretty classy looking device in terms of looks and the phone comes with sharp edges instead of the softly curved edges. It is more strongly rectangle with even the back being straight and not curved. The camera is placed on the back and the Nokia logo is on the bottom of the device, where it does not look out of place or jarr. The leaks show that the phone will be available in 2 colours, Black and Silver. It is unclear if Nokia will launch the Nokia 8 in other colours too. Nokia 8 was listed for CNY 3188 (approx. Rs 31,000) on the Chinese site. Since the phone is a global device, the Indian pricing is expected to be around the same. Nokia is back in business and we simply cannot wait for the day we get to lay our hands on a Nokia device once again. Xiaomi, LeEco, Oppo and the likes, beware. The Big Daddy is back in business and this time, here to stay!.
