KEF’s LS50 Wireless Gets A New Look For The Winter

KEF has partnered with internationally-renown designer, Marcel Wanders, to release a special version of its LS50 Wireless speaker. The new speaker seems perfect for those winter months, with its striking look and impressive clarity and insight. The ‘Nocturne’ name also feels ideal for the season.

Marcel has crafted the Nocturne by complimenting the technology that can already be found inside the speaker. KEF’s Uni-Q driver and musical notation symbols blend with the unique architectural and rhythmic elements to create a design like no other. Selected elements of the design also glow in the dark, giving atmosphere to the music.

“There is an orchestrated tempo to this medley. By allowing for individual discovery of the musical elements, the design possesses a distinctive rhythm all on its own,” says Marcel Wanders.

Gabriele Chiave, creative director at Marcel Wanders, adds, “We wanted to honour the nocturnal concept. The eloquent depth to the light and dark shades, textures and patterns allude to what you would experience in a dream-like state.”

While the design is all-new, this is still an LS50 Wireless speaker. That means it features a comprehensive set of high quality wireless connectivity options, including: 2.4GHz/5GHz Dual-band Wi-Fi Network connectivity and Bluetooth 4.0 aptX.

KEF’s Uni-Q driver technology places the tweeter in the exact acoustic centre of the bass/midrange cone, so that both act as a single point source that disperses the sound more evenly throughout the room than any rival speaker.

The LS50 Wireless system uses a 192kHz/24-bit high-resolution digital signal path throughout, and a dedicated DAC (Digital-to-Analogue Converter) for each channel, ensuring optimal sound quality.

Upon its release, the KEF LS50 Wireless was highly regarded for its acoustic qualities. The speaker was also heralded for its build quality; although this new version will up the ante when it comes to aesthetics.

The KEF LS50 Wireless ‘Nocturne’ is available now for a recommended retail price of £2,299.
