The leading businesses of the future will be those that empower the Workforce of the future and their value networks – with knowledge and know-how to deliver new categories of sustainable solutions.
On Thursday, June 21st the 3DEXPERIENCE FORUM will feature a panel of distinguished educators and industry leaders to participate in a panel discussion on the Workforce of the Future. Bringing both expert perspectives and real world experience, the panel will spotlight key trends in engineering education and update attendees on several new and innovative initiatives launched to cultivate talent. The panel will also draw on the perspective provided by Florence Verzelen, Executive Vice President, Industry Solutions, Marketing, Global Affairs and Communications, Dassault Systèmes, during her presentation on the first day of the event.
A recent article in CIO, “ The workforce of the future is already here: are you ready? “ reads, “The age of automation—long talked about as a thing of the future—has already arrived, and it’s here to stay. Emerging technologies like IoT, AI and machine learning are seeing rapid adoption, and existing technologies like big data analytics and the cloud are becoming firmly embedded in the way we do business.” So how do we prepare the workforce – from secondary schools through universities and on through the existing/or mid-career workforce for the new digital age?
The Workforce of the Future panel will be moderated by Al Bunshaft, Senior Vice President, Americas Global Affairs & Academia, Dassault Systèmes and address the following topics:
- How does education need to change to better meet the needs of industry today?
- What role does industry need to play in helping to develop the workforce of the future?
- What are steps that some universities are taking to increase diversity and inclusion in these fields which have in the past not included enough minorities and women?
- How do you ensure that today’s workforce have ongoing opportunities for training and development in order to provide the broad range of skills required by enterprises today?
Panelists include: Greg Washington, PhD, Henry Samueli School of Engineering, UC Irvine, Dean of Engineering; Landon Taylor, CEO Base 11; Charles Marsh, Chief of Design Tools and Standards for Bell Flight and COE (Community of Experts) Board Member; and Joe Hartman, PhD, Dean of Engineering at UMASS, Lowell.
