Interval training is the buzz word around the fitness area these days, especially with the emphasis on what delivers the best results in the shortest amount of time.

The days of spending an hour in the gym are just not feasible for the majority of people. So when you are focusing on physical exercises for the body and monitoring your progress, you might not know that aerobic practices are Brain exercises.

Physical exercise? Try brain work out!

Physical exercise for the brain is a direct product of the aerobic exercise of the body. The proof for this was discovered as scientists were conducting studies on the brain, particularly neuroplasticity.

LEARN ABOUT THE BODY AND BRAIN RELATIONSHIP BETTER

Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to form new neuro-pathways and as a result, open up to new habits of thought. It is this that exercise effect most significantly and in turn, the individual mood of a person is greatly improved.

In keeping with the trend of high interval training, such as P90X or Max Challenge or simply running ladders, you can expect a tremendous difference in mood and overall mental well-being.

Direct brain exercises

What do I mean by direct brain work? Well, besides the by-product of aerobic exercises to stimulate the brain, there are brain exercises that are confident and easy to do, which produce a verifiable effect on the human brain.

For example, when you wake up in the morning, simply showering with your eyes closed and using your sense of touch to locate different areas on your head stimulates your neurological transmitters by engaging your sense of touch and giving your eyes a break.
Some other brain exercises include: turning familiar objects upside down, switching seats at the table (this can be in the middle of a meal or switching your usual seating arrangement at your home), or reading differently.

To expand: you can turn your mobile device or Kindle upside down when using, as said before switching seats at random – maybe even pull your car over and switch drivers – or simply read aloud to a partner or an empty room from a book you normally read silently.
If you haven’t noticed, these minor adjustments are really engaging different senses especially your sense of touch. When you engage a different sense, you are in effect calling on both the right and left hemisphere of your brain to work together.

This is why individuals who play a musical instrument, knit, build things or crochet are said to have a more developed brain; it is the stimulation of the hands and the logical analysis that when combined, really stimulate and exercise the brain.

Remember?

Memory improvement games are great brain exercises and focus especially in an ever increasing data-driven world, it is a great thing to be able to recall miscellaneous facts at will. If this is an area you struggle with, you can try something as simple as looking for an unusual feature in a person’s face to help lock that person into your memory.

Another thing to remember on the nutritional side is two get plenty omega-3 in your diet, or supplement it with fish oil. This deficiency is the leading cause of memory loss and difficulty concentrating.
