Geekatoo poised to finally release an ‘Uber’ like app

Research shows that the average 36 percent of Americans own a Computer, Tablet, and a Smartphone. The tech-survey Americans own an average of 3.65 tech devices. 66 percent of all Americans own two of the three devices. That creates a $20 billion market for repairs.

Geekatoo is a device and computer repair company. But the company has innovated a unique way of offering their services; they come to you. The company uses what they refer to as Geeks. These are computer and device survey technicians trained to repair and setup devices.

The tech company has also featured in 500 Startups as one of the top six tech companies, making many investors predict a bright rise for Geekatoo.

But after almost five years in the market, they are set to make the leap forward and offer Uber-like services in the repair industry, creating its first ever Geekatoo app.

How the service currently works

If you have a problem with a device, you call their hotline and explain the problem to them. The personnel diagnoses the problem and locates a geek near you who is also qualified to handle your problem.

The staff will then contact the geek in your location and explain the problem to them. The geek calls you and learns more about the issue to come with the right tools to tackle the problem. The geek will also sets up an appointment with you.

The geek will visit your home and repair the device from your space. That will then ensure they leave you certified with their work. If the problem is too complex to be worked on at home, they will take it to the Geekatoo workshop. However, this has been recorded on a few occasions.

How Geekatoo hopes to change the service with the app

After five years of the steady rise of the company, they have deduced to create an app that will remove the hotline service. The service will work in a similar way to how Uber works.

You log into your Geekatoo App and explain the problem you are having. The Geekatoo app records your location and finds the best-suited geek to tackle the repair job. The Geekatoo app then selects the geek, depending on their location and skill set.

“We have traditionally been very B2C with a capital C, we are expanding to small business and enterprise offerings which you can already see from our website offerings,” said Kevin Davis the CEO & Co-Founder. “Even potentially an API that enterprises can use to automatically trigger a request for any sort of in-person tech support required.”

The Geek then visits your home and works on the repairs just as they would before. But with the app the company hopes to make the process much faster and efficient. The rating system will ensure that the geeks put that extra effort for a better rating, which often translates to more jobs.

Why has the Geekatoo app become so popular?

The repairs are done from the comfort of your home; this means that the tech repair process is much faster. The paranoia that the repair person may disrupt the device is also further removed. This is because many people fear that at the repair shop the technician may distort the device so that you can fix the gadget again.

The prices are also lower as they are trying to attract more customers to their service that is not conventionally offered like that (think Uber).
