New Game Releases: November 2nd-8th, 2017

This week, Activision heads back to the lucrative front lines, with yet another release in the Call of Duty series. For those unenthusiastic about picking up the M1 Garand once more, the next seven days offers a number of other notables. From Sonic Forces to a compilation of the .Hack//G.U. titles, there are plenty of alternatives to storming the Omaha beach yet again.

Robert’s Pick: The 2006 release of .hack//G.U. Vol. 1//Rebirth might have perplexed its stateside audience, with its offbeat, internet-inspired moniker, and single-player gameplay that simulated a Massively Multiplayer Online RPG. But in the ensuing years, these concepts become more common, stimulating demand for the inaugural game and its two follow-up. With the original PS2 games long out of print and selling for a hefty sum, the release of .Hack//G.U. Last Recode is exceedingly welcome. For a reasonable price, you get the trilogy, along with a fleeting fourth entry, along with the expected update to the visuals. If you’re new to the material, I’d suggest playing alongside reading the manga or watching the anime for maximum enjoyment.
