The Greatest Team the English Premier League Has Ever Seen won’t win the quadruple, treble or even the double!

Well, would you look at that! The Greatest Team the English Premier League Has Ever Seen TM won’t win the quadruple, treble or even a sodding double after they were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League last night by Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola knew where he was pointing the finger of blame, and it was not at his players (understandably). Pep remonstrated loudly at half-time with Antonio Mateu Lahoz who is, frankly, a bit of a pantomime referee who has an innate ability to make the entire spectacle about himself. As Guardiola himself said:

“I know him from Spain so I could imagine that. I was polite, I was correct. Mateu Lahoz is a special guy, he likes to be different, he likes to be special.

“He’s a referee who likes to feel different, he’s special. When everybody sees things he is going to see the opposite”.

Pep is right. And City should have been legally 2-0 up at half-time which would have made the second half even more interesting, eh?

Mind you, if Roma can come back from three goals down to Barcelona, you would be well within your rights to think that City have missed out there at the Etihad.

Bernardo Silva is suddenly a big fan of VAR after the decision that went against City just before half-time, the ball cannoning back off James Milner into the path of Big Leroy who tapped it in, before being wrongly called offside. Yes, VAR would have picked that up. But hey, somewhere Jose Mourinho is still spitting feathers over that ghost goal so that’s life, folks.

Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson is cock-a-hoop at the prospect of signing a new deal at the Emirates. Why, has he heard who the new manager is going to be? It definitely won’t be Thomas Tuchel who is off to gay Paris by the sounds of it.

Yesterday I spoke of Richarlison’s agent cleverly only sending out videos of him playing in November to attract the attention of Arsenal, PSG and a few other sides. Well, it seems that Manchester United, Everton and Chelsea were on this morning’s email list as they now have a notification saying “he’s for sale, you know?” And, they are interested. With Anthony Martial likely to be leaving Old Trafford, Jose needs someone else he can pick on before selecting Alexis every week.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Moussa Dembele is moving into the last year of his contract meaning he immediately appears on the radar of Juventus who love a Bosman. He could well be moving to Turin unless Daniel Levy breaks a lifetime’s work of underpaying his star men.
