Fresh from their shock 2-0 win in the North London Derby, Arsenal have moved to further revolutionise the Club. No, Arsene is still there obviously but they have recruited Borussia Dortmund’s Head of Recruitment Sven Mislintat. This is great news for Arsenal, as they will now be able to add the very hottest world talents to an updated list of “players they nearly signed when they were cheap, but decided not to” as we are all a bit bored of the Yaya Toure, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, N’Golo Kante, Luis Suarez etc stories.
Newcastle United fans might get the Christmas they have been hoping for as a formal £300m bid for the club has been “lodged” by Amanda Staveley and her hedge fund (or whatever it is). We know little about Staveley other than (a) she is not Mike Ashley and (b) she is not Mike Ashley which is good enough for the majority. But £300m? Basically, you are saying that if United were to sell Paul Pogba and, plucking a name out of the hat, Marcus Rashford tomorrow then that is almost the same price as an entire football club with a nice stadium which gets filled out each week? That sounds like quite a bargain, even if it is in the North East.
Tony Pulis has been a “victim of his own success” according to Tony Pulis. Tony mate, the only victims are the fans that pay to watch that dire fare you serve up week in, week out. That said, if I were Sunderland I’d move for him quickly. Oops, too late. Sit tight dear Tony, there will be a club in need of some firefighting ASAP I am sure. WBA are considering Alan Pardew (please, we need him back) or Nigel Pearson (actually, would be nice to see him again as well) as replacements after sitting through one match of Gary Megson guff.
Just when Zlatan Ibrahimovic couldn’t claim he was any more like Superman it gets revealed that his injury was even worse than first thought. Of course, it was, it’s Zlatan. Coming back from a cruciate at 36 or so is boring to a man like Zlatan. No, ideally he needs to contract a life-threatening infection, fight a Martian and work 36 hours a day in the gym to make it even worth his time returning. The only shock in all of this was that Zlatan returned only ONE month ahead of schedule. Well, he is starting to get old.
