It’s always one of the proudest moments of every player’s career when he dons his national colours for the first time. If you happen to be a striker, there is perhaps nothing more special than scoring for your country on your debut.
Rangers Forward Alfredo Morelos had the opportunity to do just that when he earned his first cap for Colombia as they took on Venezuela at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Shortly after replacing star striker Radamel Falcao on the 77th minute mark, Morelos had the chance to make his debut a fairy tale.
With the game poised at 1-1, the ball was squared to Morelos who found himself unmarked inside the six-yard box, with the goal gaping. Unbelievably, Morelos somehow managed to fluff a chance, that in all honestly looked harder to miss. It was quite a surreal miss that you have to see to believe:

Thankfully for the 22-year-old Rangers forward, Atletico Mineiro’s wide-man Yimmi Chara scored a late winner, giving Colombia the win and sparing Morelos’ blushes. The Rangers forward has been quite outspoken about his desire to play in the Premier League despite just recently signing a four-year contract with Steven Gerrard’s men.
Let’s just say if any of the Premier League clubs had sent their scouts to Miami for the game, the Rangers forward will have to wait a little longer for his dream move.
