Spurs just keep getting better
Classified for an eternity as a mid-table club, Tottenham have undergone a tremendous transformation under Mauricio Pochettino. Their recent visit to Santiago Bernabeu epitomized the contrast in quality between now and the Spurs of old.
As Harry Kane’s deflected finish sailed over the stranded Madrid goalkeeper, the away section burst into celebration. Long had they waited for this moment of reckoning as Spurs gave the European Champions, a run for their money.
A throwback to 2011, when Real Madrid walloped them 4-0 at the Bernabeu is testament to the progress the North London club have made since then. On Saturday Tottenham were unflustered as they came up against the mighty Real Madrid and produced a performance good enough to hold Zinedine Zidane’s men to a 1-1 draw having lead them in their own backyard.
