The Spurs captain stepped up yet again against the mighty Real Madrid to help his team secure a point away from home. The skipper gained all praise for denying fellow countryman Karim Benzema from point-blank range in the 55th minute.

A delightful, curling cross from Casemiro from the right side of the edge of the box sailed into the heart of Tottenham’s penalty area, and found Benzema in acres of free space.

The striker had only Lloris to beat from a yard out, and he struck it down the middle. Lloris had committed to his right, but managed to keep the ball out with his right foot.
