Celtic’s European dreams did not kick off quite as they expected, as they were subjected to a harsh 5-0 hammering at the hands of Paris Saint Germain last night.

“We played like under-12s at times,” said manager Brendan Rodgers, whose men were defeated by strikes from Neymar, Mbappe, Cavani and a Mikael Lustig own-goal.

Despite the rout, the Hoops cannot be accused of failing to put their heart and soul into the game, and displaying maximum enthusiasm in this regard was Anthony Ralston.

The 18-year old, playing only his sixth senior game as a Celtic player, was given the massive job of man-marking the world’s most expensive footballer, Neymar.

Apart from performing that herculean task beautifully, the right-back also displayed typical Celtic aggression in the second half while leading a solo attack for his team, albeit unsuccessfully.

Unfazed by his effort being thwarted, Ralston simply rallied back into the game to crush PSG defender Thiago Motta’s foot during their immediate counter-attack.

Instead of apologizing to the referee for being booked, Ralston instead cheered up the crowd and sought even greater support from them.
